This site is the portfolio and the video lab of Charles Hieronymi.
In all of these projects there is an attempt to avoid using a formal script and let the actors speak in a conversational, semi-improvised mode, using the retro-scripting method.
These shorts are a mixture of experimental film, a dreamlike music documentary, comedy and drama where chance and the absurd combine to create a gentle mirror of our fragmented society. Sometimes the image explodes in a dream remixed with VJ tools.
That which is human, desire, dream and love are always at the thematic center. The road trip, wandering at random and the acceptance of the unexpected leave the door open to all forms of discovery: a kind of 'serendipity' film.
Charles Hieronymi is from Geneva, Switzerland. He enjoys photography and video have always and launched experiments in film first as an actor, and finally as a director.
His video projects have led in the 2000s to discover the life style video with Pascal Greco. Between Switzerland, Japan, USA and the Middle East, they collaborated to produce films and unique events where fashion, music and urban culture merge in the narrative of a modern and unconventional lifestyle. He co-directed the Tokyo Streets documentary and produced the unconventional BTTK musical project.
The discovery of the Hawaiian Islands allowed Charles to explore new territories, and the tone of his projects change. The road trip finally gave way to collaboration with actors and film technicians to create stories which are written and narrated during the development and the production process.
At the same time, Charles tells photographic stories with his friends Jennifer Herger and Jeremy Obriot. This form of expression with highly processed photos allows them to share their common passion for image.
With his friends Leila Drissi and Xavier Boulière, he created the French raw food book Cuisiner Cru.
